Marshall's novel, Christy, features a protagonist whose fortitude grows from her faith, much as Peter Marshall's does in A Man Called Peter.
Based on the experiences of the author's mother, Christy is the story of a nineteen-year-old woman who, inleaves her comfortable home to spend a year teaching in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The clear style and obvious sincerity that mark all of Marshall's works enable this long novel to maintain its charm, even though it sometimes moves very slowly.
